In a display of precision and efficiency, Metcalf Heli Services were called into action to replace a crucial part of a telecommunications tower antenna that had succumbed to heavy snow damage. The operation, which took place in Mt Buffalo Victoria, highlighted the versatility and capability of aerial solutions in critical infrastructure maintenance.
The task at hand involved lifting and installing a two-part telecommunications tower antenna, totalling a weight of 700 kilograms. The previous antenna had been rendered inoperable due to the recent heavy snowfall.
The challenge lies not just in the weight of the antenna, but in the precise positioning required, where every movement counts when you’re dealing with delicate infrastructure like this.
Once the old antenna was successfully removed, the Airbus H125 swiftly transitioned to installing the replacement parts. Despite the urgency, safety remained the top priority throughout the operation. Ground crews ensured that the new antenna sections were securely attached and aligned to ensure optimal signal transmission capabilities.
The H125’s ability to hover and manoeuvre with such precision is unmatched in situations like these. It allows us to complete what would otherwise be a complex and time-consuming task in a matter of hours.
